March's Sketch ......... in April!!

Hello Everyone, Happy Patriot's Day!!  Hope lots of you have the day off and are enjoying the start of school vacation. 

 Lynn here with my take on last month's sketch! I used Pink Paislee's LONDON MARKETcollection. This beautiful, vintage collection called my name when I was choosing my products for March. The 6x6 paper pad, the 12x12 papers and the die cut ephemera are soooo much fun to use - you have to check them out at the store! I did lots of distressing, inking, layering and added lots of ephemera here and there. The ADORABLE photos are courtesy of Heather Chick!! Thanks Heather!  Here is March's sketch ...

For the title I used plain white chipboard alpha by Basic Grey and added some glitter to accent the title ...

To add some color to the rest of the title I added some rub-ons to the chipboard alpha...

Two is better than One ...

...especially when it somes to scrapbook pages. I typically don't gravite towards two-page layouts - single pages take me long enough ... as those of you who know me can attest! However, this month's sketch made it sooooo easy to complete two pages - and quickly I might add! The sketch for this month really spotlights the photos by merely adding and tucking in bits and pieces around the pictures. It also embraces the "white" space. Here's the sketch ... 

here's my take ...

I used My Mind's Eye's beautiful brand new collection called "Love Me" available at the store. The pinks, blues and grey's are so gorgeous together and are subtle enough the allow these pics of Simba to POP! I distressed most of the edges and inked with Prima's new chalk ink - the grey is such a rich color. These inks are fast drying, permanent and easy to use and also available at the store! Here's a few close-ups ...

I {heart} a challenge ...

A color challenge that is! February's color challenge is so beautiful and I was more than delighted to play along! Take a look at this color palette - so pretty for Spring don't you think?!

As soon as I saw this combination I knew exactly what picture I was going to use! My niece's daughter Katelynn is often a subject for my pages. She is a ham for the camera and this picture is no exception! Here's my layout ...

Here's a few close-ups ... The alpha was painted with twinkling H20's and I added white rub-ons to tone down the pink. I added liquid pearls to "dance" and then added some glitter flakes while it was wet ...

The handmade flower was made by punching eight 2.0" scalloped circles, wetting the circles and crumpling while wet. Then layer all eight circles together, add a brad to the middle and scrunch each layer towards the center. I then added some white paint to accent the flower and placed some pink tulle behind the flower ...

Heart Art

In keeping with Valentine's Day I created a project using Crate Paper's Paper Heart Collection! I started with an 8x8 canvas and covered it with music paper from my stash. I decorated the background with a variety of mixed media products, including Faber-Castell Gelatos. Gelatos are luscious acid-free pigment sticks that glide on creamy vibrant color and blend beautifully with or without water. They will work well on light or dark papers, smooth or textured surfaces, even flocked papers and canvas, and with a variety of stamping techniques from traditional direct to stamp to reverse stamping. They look like chapsticks which makes them even more fun LOL!! I used a direct to rubber stamp technique with a light mist of water to apply the gelatos to my canvas. There are lots of colors and all are available at the store! I also used MFT's "Hearts a Plenty" Dienamic to cut lots of small hearts from various papers from the collecton. I folded the hearts, inked them placed them in a heart shape leaving a small open space for my title ...

A Little Nordic Holiday!

Hi Everyone, Lynn  here to share a layout I did using Basic Grey's Nordic Holiday Collection. This collection is not only great for Christmas projects but it can also work well with any winter themed photos! For the background of my layout I tore strips of various papers, crumpled and inked the edges. I then layered these strips on white cardstock to create a dimensional background.

To alter plain white chipboard alpha I painted them with Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint ... love the effect this gives ...

Gotta LOVE a Sketch!

Hi Everyone, Lynn here to share with you my version of January's sketch! I absolutely L O V E sketches and I love to see how everyone interprets them! It's amazing to see all the variations and this month is no exception. I used Crate Paper's Paper Heart Collection to highlight this oldie but goodie photo of Joshua! This collection is kinda vintage, right up my alley, and the Chipboard Pieces and Border Stickers are adorable. Here is January's sketch ...

I inked white chipboard alpha and adhered it to the larger heart banner and then added some Stickles ...

Twine is another of my FAV products. I attached some twine to the back the three little chipboard hearts and dangled them from the smaller heart banner from the collection ...

On the 11th Day of Christmas ...

Hello Right at Homer's, Lynn here with another tag on Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas! This has been a fun few weeks and I'm loving everyone's cards and tags! It always amazes me to see everyone's design ideas and techniques and how different they are. I had a blast using mixed media products and a rolled paper technique to create my tag. I took a 6x6 piece of double-sided paper from one of the MANY paper pads I'm collecting and tore it into small strips, inked the edges on both sides and rolled them at an angle into tubes so you can see the inked edges and both sides of the paper. I cut a tree shape out of cardstock to use as a base and glued the rolled strips onto the cardstock in the tree shape. The tree trunk is inked corrugated cardboard with twine wrapped around it.... (you can see the trunk better in the next photo)

 

The background of the tag is a mixture of paint, light modeling paste -for the snow- and glass beads mixed into paint for the sky. I added glitter to the snow, rub-ons and stamped into the sky for more detail. I spayed the tag with Perfect Pearls Mist when done for the final layer of glimmer.
