How can you not love baby boy paper?

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to stop in and share my take on the May Sketch:

I used the Bella Boulevard Baby Boy Collection to capture a snapshot of my nephew's life at one.

To enhance the squares surrounding the photos I used cork to mat them. I love running cork through my Sizzix Vintaj machine and made these using the Spellbinder square dies.

 
I think it is also important to use some handwriting on my layouts so that years from now people will actually know what my handwriting looked like! Granted, it may not be perfect as my photo below shows but you can always get creative and bold certain words to correct an error :)

Chevron Makes Everything Better

One of the challenges this month was to incorporate chevron into a layout. Since chevron's are everywhere and I happen to love them, this challenge was both easy and something that I really enjoyed. Here is my layout:

To create the chevron pattern, I used a chevron impression obsession rubber background stamp. This created a nice focal point for my picture and my hidden pocket.

 

This pocket served as a safeplace to keep this special card. This card represents when I found out that my sister was having her second boy! It was a hard secret to keep!

A Boy's Life

A Boy's Life by Echo Park is perfect for those rambunctious little boys in your life. I have two little nephews who absolutely love to play rough with each other. Believe it or not the little one is rougher than the big one!

It was hard to choose between all of the gorgeous papers in this line and the element sticker sheet is full of embellishments to accent any layout! Throw in a few buttons and you are good to go!

A March Color Challenge Layout in April

Although March has passed us by, I wanted to share my layout with you for the March color challenge. The task was to use kraft and a color of your choice. I chose a pretty blue/green- not quite turquoise. I LOVE this color combination! The color challenge is a great way to combine different lines of paper and embellishments together to create a beautiful layout that is in one certain color combo. I think by streamlining the colors to just a couple, it really allows for the photos to take center stage!

My “2” layout consists of only one patterened paper as I wanted to focus on the embellishments. I cinched up the lace ribbon as a border underneath the photo and the Maya Road ticket was a perfect spot for the title of my layout to go. You’ll be seeing more tickets in my layouts moving forward as they have become one of my favorite embellishments to use.

I really love MFT Die-Namics Hearts a Plenty as it really can be used on anything. To create this heart I just used craft foam and cork to create a layered heart embellishment. I added a pin to further embellish the heart and used a glue dot to glue it on my layout. I really think it captured the love I was trying to show between my nephews.

Home Study Book Club

Hi Everyone! Pretty Flower Packaging

I don’t know about you, but I love a pretty package. Using MFT die-namics decorative doily duo, my die-cut machine, some scraps of paper, fabric, tulle, a vintage button, some twine and a glassine bag, I created a pretty flower to go on top of a kraft gift box.

Basically, I rolled the tulle and fabric through die cut machine using the doily duo MFT die-namics and then stacked them on top of each other. I finished the flower off with a vintage button and voila, pretty package complete, and a 2-in-1 gift! I cannot tell you how excited I am that MFT die-namics can be used to cut fabric and wool felt in addition to paper. I will be using them with fabric and felt much more on my projects since it is an easy way to add texture to my layouts and crafty projects.

A Pink and Green Color Challenge

Although in the past I haven’t scrapbooked with pink too much—after completing this color challenge I think I will work in pink more often. It really goes with so many colors and since green is my favorite color I think I will be saving this color combination for more layouts to come!

My “M” layout consists of paper from Echo Park Style Essentials line (I happen to love every paper in this entire line in every color). As you may have noticed, I love scrapbooking with a plain colored background page and adding colored paper and embellishments on top. This layout is no different and the green and pink really stoodout on the white background page.

Here is my take on it:



I added some white crepe paper and cinched it up to add dimension to the layout and cut the end edges to make it look like a banner. I then added a punched out heart and a Maya Road pin to complete the homemade embellishment.

I love LOVE

When I first saw the My Minds Eye Love Me paper pack & diecut sheet, I knew it would be perfect for a mini-book I had been wanting to make to use up some of my favorite wedding photos.

I had fun playing with mists, stamps, punches and of course bling to create a book that will be a perfect coffee table book to bring out with my Valentine’s Day decorations for years to come. Many of us have hoards of buttons, and I am no different. For the cover, I tapped into my stash and created a border of red buttons to kick off the album. One of my favorite elements is using the seedburst stamp to create a patterned background by stamping in a few spots to dress up the gray paper.

Artist Trading Cards Inspiration

Earlier this month Kathy posted some artist trading card samples from the Right at Home design team that were amazing. I’m here today to post some more ATC  inspiration.

The ATC size of 2.5x3.5 inches is a perfect mini-canvas to express your inner artist. I think the beauty of them is that they are a snapshot in time of what you are thinking or feeling at the moment and can be swapped with friends or be part of your personal collection. They can be made out of absolutely anything with the only rule being that the size is always the same.
