Jess here! I'm back with more goodies from Authentique today. It's an explosion of pretty pink with the Uncommon line and I had so much fun creating with these beautiful products!
I went for a true, ultra-feminine look, which is different for me but in a good way. I don't usually get to fussy cut rich roses and do velvet ribbon lacing like this!
I added all sorts of details to this page. Check out the fancy stitching (I love my sewing machine!) around the border, the little stamps cut from a sheet of this awesome paper, and the gorgeous doilies. I seriously spent forever cutting bits and pieces out of the papers of this collection but it was well worth my time.
I used my Cropadile to punch mirrored holes in two paper edges and laced the velvet ribbon through them for a super girly touch. I also added pearls to the points of the doilies. I really like finding ways to add subtle extra details like these.
Here you can see more fussy cutting where I used foam tape to elevate parts. I also decided I didn't want to use the title in the pink bracket frame so I cut out the middle and added some canvas for my journaling area. I made the product work for me.
On this next card you can see how I also used this same sticky-backed canvas to create rolled flowers.
Three Roses Card
Again, I fussy cut the flat roses and this time I decided to layer the rolled roses on top. They have a fairly high profile so this is the sort of card you would want to give in person rather than mailing it!
To make the rolled roses start with two squares, approximately 3" x 3"... one each of patterned paper and canvas.
Peel the backing off the canvas and stick it to the patterned paper. Round the corners and cut a spiral into the center of the papers. Remember that the width of your spiral cuts will be the height of your flower. You don't want to go too skinny or too wide.
Some people create these flowers with circles, not squares, and that works too. I just find that it is easier to cut the squares and in the end the variation in width and "corners" gives you more interesting petals.
Start with the *outside* and carefully roll the paper onto itself, working towards the center. When you get to the little circle in the center use a super heavy adhesive (and hold it tight till it is dry) OR, if you are impatient like me, grab your handy dandy glue gun and get an instant hold.
You can now add something to the center... I used more of the pearls in mine.
Happy scrapping, everyone! Let's see some creative use of canvas on your next project!

These are both gorgeous... the details are fantastic!
