Just Have Fun With It!

First let me say, I hope everyone is safe and warm from all the Hurricane Irene damage. 

Personally, I'm at Chateau Mom for the week, as the electric company said it will be at least the weekend before we get power.  Needless to say, one dark night at home with an infant was all I needed to say "I'm coming over." (Just picture it... we returned home very late Saturday evening from a weeks vacation, the lights are out and I'm changing diapers with the constellation turtle I have in Quinn's nursery.)  There are so many funny stories from "The Mace's Hurricane Experience", but I'm sure I'll scrap it someday ;) All-in-all I know our impact could have been alot worse, so I'll take the bunking up with Nana & Papa anytime!

For now, let's get to some scrapping fun with Basic Grey's OUT OF PRINT collection. 

 

There were so many things I loved about this collection.  (Frances will be posting another layout I created with it soon...its one of my all time favorites!)  The variety of visual textures Basic Grey put into each pattern is just amazing—I felt the paper alone pushed me creatively to ‘add’ more (ink, thread, staples, brads, embossing, glitter, etc.) With this layout, I just had fun... from start to finish (from layout title/topic to all the little embellishments).

 

The next time you are at Right At Home, take a look at all the neat Basic Grey Out of Print patterns... I promise, there is at least one for all of us to love!

Make and Take, August 27th

We have another fun make and take planned for this coming Saturday.  Join Nicole and Kaitlyn as they help you to create one of the tags shown to the right.  You'll be working with 100 Days of Summer paper from Simple Stories, as well as My Favorite Things "Tag You're It" Stamp and Dienamic Set, along with other dienamics, inks, buttons and ribbon.

Glubers!!!

Hi Everyone...
    I'm back with some more Victoria Gardens by Echo park and ... wait for it... a GLUBER TUTORIAL!!  Now you may be asking yourself, "What on earth is a Gluber?"  Think Uber Glue dot.  The folks over at Cosmo Cricket came up with the fabulous idea of creating glue dots that come in a variety of large sizes from 1" to 3".

 
 Now what would you do with an uber glue dot??  Make flowers!  There are so many different ways to use them, and I'm only showing you one way today, but the uses are only limited by your imagination.  

    For my tutorial today, we're going to make a loopy flower using seam tape that I dyed with Glimmer Mist and a 2" Gluber.

 

First, you peel off one side of the plastic covering the Gluber.  Try to avoid touching the Gluber, you may never un-stick your finger!

 

To start, place the end of the seam tape about 1/4" into the gluber. 

 

Make a loop that goes about 1/2" outside the gluber and bring the tape back onto the gluber and stick down.  Continue doing this all the way around the gluber. Try to keep the loops somewhat even, but they don't need to be perfect.

 

Once you've completed the outer circle, start another loopy circle just inside the outer circle.  Continue going around like this until you've reached the center of the gluber.

 
 

Once at the center, cut the tape.  To finish the loopy flower, add some bling or a button to the center.

 

To adhere the gluber flower to your layout, you just need to peel the backing off and stick to your layout.

This weekend...August 20th and 21st...

We have a great planned beginning tonight with our Layout Workshop.  Everyone tonight will be working with Christine Adolph's South Seas paper line to put together a one page layout created by Kathy, that is perfect for Summer photos. 

Saturday brings a couple classes with Kathie...Elizabeth Crafts Watercoloring and our My Favorite Things Year of Flowers Card Class too.  We do have room available if you'd like to join us for either of these classes...simply give us a call and we'll get you all set to go.  Make sure to take a peek at the tools necessary for these classes so you'll be prepared.

Also on Saturday...our See About it Saturday (see photo to right)...featuring a Free make and take working with Authentique's Blissful paper line and lots of My Favorite Things dienamics and stamps.  Come on in around 12:30 PM and create a card and learn a bit about MFT.

To round out the weekend we have our next Card Home Study Book Club Meeting scheduled for Sunday at 2 PM.  It will be fun to see what everyone has created with their last card kit, which was full of Sparkly fluff, tons of fun embellishments and Bella Blvd.'s Family Dynamix paper.

Happiness

Happiness is what I feel when I get to work with new goodies from Echo Park!!  This month I got to create with EP's new Victoria Gardens.  I LOVE the colors, all very subtle and pretty, and the sticker sheets are awesome!  I had a lot of fun combining all the colors to highlight this great picture from our recent trip to Florida.  It was the first time since my in-laws moved to Florida that my daughter got to spend her birthday with them.  We celebrated with a great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants!

 

I misted the Happy Words background paper and cut one of the journalling cards with a spellbinder die to give it some shape.  I also stitched around the circles a few times to give it some texture.

I used the rose stickers from the collection sticker sheet and accented them with some fussy cut roses from the Rose Garden paper.
 
I'll be back next week with another layout using Echo Park's Victoria Gardens along with a tutorial using Glubers!!  In the meantime, stop by Right at Home soon to check out all of the new goodies coming in from CHA!

 

Tax-free Day and our Home is stocked...

Our store is stocked with some of the new CHA Summer releases...Ranger products are here and will be demoed tomorrow by Kathie at our Get Your Art on weekend demo time, so make sure to stop by.  We've also received in the two new collections from Echo Park...Apothecary and Happy Days.  Also in Jillibean Soup...four brandy new lines and one additional line that's new to us...so that's five lines in case it's too early to do the math.  We also have in new a new SEI paper line just perfect for the Athlete in your life.  Re-stock on lots of must have favorites too from Glimmer mist, Spritz, Authentique...which reminds me we have the two brand new lines from them to...a Halloween line and a Christmas line...you'll love...also re-stocked Bazzill mats and WeR Memory Keeper mats and new shuttles for the Sew Easy.  So...what I'm saying is come on in and see what's new and enjoy Tax Free Day today and tomorrow!  (Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th.)

Not Your Ordinary Kit Club...

Here is a peek at my Not Your Ordinary Kit Club September card kit.  I am in love with these gorgeous papers by Authentique, which is called the Uncommon Collection.  Lisa gave us such a wonderful bag of goodies to play with.  There are 36 sheets in the paper pad alone, so I am looking forward to seeing what everyone creates.  I will  be back soon with a sneak peek at what I have done with my kit.  See you soon.  If you want to join us, just call the store and Lisa will get you all set with either a layout or card kit, or both.  Our next meeting is September 1, at 6:30PM.

I Love EVERYTHING About This Moment!

Sometimes, scrapbooking titles are as easy as taking a clue from your supplies. This month, Lisa gave me Basic Grey's OUT OF PRINT collection to work with, and part of the sticker sheet included all sort of loving sentiments about Family, Friends, Imagination & Dreams. (I certainly seeing myself using up each and every one of them!)

This is such a fun collection, filled with so many great colors and different patterned papers which can be used for just about any reason (boy/girl, different seasons, birthdays, etc.)  I can't wait to play with the rest of my goodies later this week at the Right At Home Scrapbooking's Summer Weekend Retreat, and share them with you later this month! 

 

 
 

Lisa's been working hard at rearranging the store with all the new goodies, so be sure to stop by and see all the new wonderful & amazing things they've brought in. I know I'm stopping in tomorrow to get a few last 'must haves' for this weekends crop.

Get your Art on this Weekend...August 14th...

We're super busy planning all the fun events we have going on this weekend.  First, starting on Friday, August 12th, our Summer Escape 2 begins.  Cropping all day long, for three days straight...sounds fun and a little exhausting.  We will have a couple special classes scheduled to take place at the crop, information will be coming soon on those so be on the lookout. 

We're also putting the final touches to a great Sunday...our Summer Camp Bus will be heading out to tour Massachusetts and Connecticut.  We still have a few spots open if you'd like to join us, send us an email, sign-up online or give us a call at the store on Wednesday. 

Also scheduled for Sunday...a demo extravaganza...that's right.  It's our...Get Your Art On Weekend...where we'll be doing just that.  We're really excited to share some of the newest items to hit the market.  We'll be demoing the new product lines from Ranger...from new Distress Stains, Mixatives and more.  We'll also be demoing some artsy things we've found and have been having lots of fun playing with.  Our Vagabond will be humming, busy cutting out die-cuts of some of the newest Sizzix dies.  Sounds pretty good huh?... there's more...we'll be running some special promotions during the weekend.  One of which will include this lovely ensemable...a Right at Home apron and some fun goodies for you to get Artsy with on your own.  Look for more details in our newsletter this week!
