Memorial Day Hours

Tail Waggers and Cat Naps

Boy, it seems like forever since I've posted!  This month, Lisa gave me some new Bella Blvd. Tail Wagger's and Cat Naps to work with, which was very exciting to me since I have about 50,000 pictures of my crazy kitties Daisy and Rosie.  These days they're more agreeable to having their pictures taken than my almost 13 year old!  The new line is great for both cat and dog lovers... tons of bright fun patterns, and plenty of cute stickers to add a bit of flair to your layouts!

Study Buddies

 
I decided to scrap a common sight in our house...Caroline and Rosie together!  Everyday when Caroline comes home from school, Rosie follows her everywhere, making sure she can get a random pat on the head whenever she feels the need!  It's very cute and kind of funny.

In addition to the stickers and cut-outs that are part of the Tail Wagger's and Cat Nap's line, I painted some Maya Road Chipboard pieces using paint daubers to match the paper.  This is a great way to customize an embellishments or Alpha to match your layout.  I find I'm adding to my dauber stash every time I go into the store!

We're very excited to be participating with Spellbinders Paper Arts in an exclusive die release as a Crafters Home store.  What exactly does this mean?...well, Spellbinders has just  introduced five brand new die template sets and they will be available exclusively through Crafters Home stores through July! Fall Weekend Retreat-October 21st-23rd, 2011

Yikes, we've been on a weekend retreat planning frenzy...and are so looking forward to all of our upcoming cropping weekends.  As always we've been having fun planning out all the little details for yet another fabulous Fall Weekend Scrapping Event...so please put aside the weekend of October 21st, 22nd and 23rd and join us for our Fall Weekend Retreat-October.

We have some really fun things planned for this event which we are keeping a secret for just a little while longer, but of course we need to share some of the great details so you know just how much fun you're going to have with us...

Off to the Playground

Jess here, and I am back today with a couple more layouts from Echo Park!  I've been having fun this month with Playground.  With all this rain we've been having I really loved having these cheery brights to lift my spirits and bring a little sunshine my way. 

I used a bright white background for One Step at a Time to really make Playground's colors pop off the page. 



I really wanted to show off the large banner sticker on this page.  I also thought the blue balloon was TOO cute floating from my son's hand... how perfect is his pose for this?!  I emphasized my title on this page with all the cool number elements.  The strip across the middle and the numbered rectangle stickers were great for illustrating "one step at a time". 

I also really like the border on this page.  I used buttons to secure baker's twine around the edge, but instead of adhering the twine I just let it rest on top of the paper. 

My next page, Best Friends, has a little bit of everything on there! 



I love the bold prints of Echo Park but sometimes you want a more subtle look.  I used a circle punch here to get small samples of each pattern.  You can't really tell what the larger print is but you still get the pops of color.  Kraft and white cardstock are also your best friends when you want to "subtlify" prints!



I slightly curled the edges of the circles to give them a bit of dimension, doodled circles on them, and added coordinating buttons to the centers to unify the group into a single area of embellishment. 

Another thing to keep in mind with bold embellishments is that you can modify them to suit your needs.  The title, banners, tree, and butterfly were all stickers or paper from the Playground line but I modified each of them to work on this page.  The title was cut shorter and I gave it a border, the banner was cut from a paper strip, I cut a tire swing off the tree, and the butterfly is actually two heart stickers.  Think outside of the box!
