National Scrapbook Day Salebration-Saturday, April 30th

Tomorrow is our National Scrapbook Day Saleabration, Saturday, April 30th...and boy do we have lots of fun things planned for you!

Wall Decoration - Cricut Project!

Hello, everyone! Wow, it seems like ages since I've shared something with you all!

This week I worked with some paper's from Echo Park's Playground collection! These papers are SO cute! If you haven't already, you have got to go into RAH Scrapbooking and pick some up!

Anyhow, I decided to make something for my little guy. I rarely make anything 'boy' themed, so this was a lot of fun and something different for me. I created a door/wall hanging decoration for his room! He loves it!!

If you would like to make one for your little guy, then this is how I did it:

I used my Sure Cuts a Lot (SCAL) program to cut the base rectangles. The larger size is cut at 10.00w x 3.50h. The smaller layer is cut at 9.00w x 2.50h.

The font I used is a free font you can download called IMPACT. I liked the boldness of it and it cut really well!

All the bears and other designs are from the cute Jonathan's Bears Collection from SVG Cuts!

All bears were cut at 3.50 h. The plane was cut at 5.00w and the bulldozer at 3.50h.

The little clouds are form the shapes library in SCAL and are cut at 2.25 and 2.75.

For this proect I didn't do too much embossing. I love using my Cuttlebug to emboss and add texture. I also inked some of my edges for a little contrast.

You can make door hangings for parties, kids rooms, etc! Have fun with it! And pick up all your supplies at Right at Home!! :)

National Scrapbook Day Party...Saturday, April 30th

We're getting our National Scrapbook Day Party started early...so we're hoping you'll join us for a day filled with fun planned just for you this Saturday, April 30th.

First we have a Saturday All Day Crop going on, 9AM to 9PM hosted by the lovely Nicole.  She's excited to be here for the whole day, twelve full hours of cropping, shopping and f-u-n!

We also have some great demos featuring Ranger Ink's new Distress Stains, as well as of Elizabeth Crafts products.  Kathie cannot wait to show you a few new tips and tricks, and a make and take too which you can sit down and create.   

You want more...you got it.  We'll have a few new layouts on display which you can sit down and create ($4.50/each)...these are 12x12 double page layouts...so lots of room for photos.

Okay, we've got cropping, demos, a make and take, layouts...what's missing? ...a sale and prizes! ...and maybe a little snack too.  We've got that too.  We'll be announcing our Saturday promotions later this week on our blog, in a newsletter and on our Facebook Page...so you're bound to see it.  Of course we had to think of something crazy fun.....so we'll be hanging a clothesline with little paper bags held on by clothespins...and inside those bags...hum...prizes for you silly.  You'll simply choose some must have items at our Home, come on up to the counter, choose a bag and what's inside that bag is all for you.  Prizes will consist of paper packs, crafting kits, discounts off your entire purchase and more.  Once you've shopped, gotten a prize, make and taked, demoed, and had an overall great time with us, we'll give you a snack and you'll be on your way h a p p y!

Let's Make it a Hometown Summer!

What's better than one of your favorite scrap companies?  Why, TWO of your favorite scrap companies!  That's what you'll get with Hometown Summer from Pink Paislee and Collage Press.  Pink Paislee manufactured this super fun new line under the Collage Press banner and I can't think of a sweeter pairing. You'll love the colors and the completely versatile prints as much as I do!

This page shows off the more feminine side of Hometown Summer.  I adore the pink gingham!  This collection has great brights and super cute icons of Summers past... ice cold soda pops, watermelon, homey neighborhoods, and kids at play. 

The collection has some awesome border pieces too, like this dotted green banner that I used for the title.  I cut super thin strips of foam tape to pop the printed alphas with and give the title some dimension. 

I also added dimension in the opposite corner to balance the page.  I simply accordion folded a 1" x 12" strip of the teal paper and glued it to a scrap of paper.  Add a brad and a little bow and voila... instant embellishment. 

Here on The Newest Member of Sox Nation you can see a more masculine side of Hometown Summer:



I focused on the red (of course!), black, and teal this time and grounded it all on kraft cardstock.  I created the border and black splotches with watered down acrylic paint.  This page is a lot flatter than I normally scrap but I just loved the patterns so much that I felt they stood well on their own. 



This was about as dimensional as I got on this layout!  Just a tiny bit of foam tape to layer the circles over my twill ribbon.  But texture doesn't always mean a page has to be bulky!  This is why I love paints, mists, and stitching. 

The colors of Hometown Summer are so vibrant and I just love the way Pink Paislee gives us patterns that have a unified look without being too "theme-y".  I can see using these papers for about a zillion different pages and I know you will too!

My Stamping Space!

Hello Friends! It's Kimberly here!  Frances, our wonderful Design Team Coordinator for the Right at Home Scrapbooking store, thought that it would be fun for some of us to share our crafty spaces. So today, it's my turn to share. This is the view as you walk into the room. Last year, my husband built this beautiful desk for me. It is similar to one that I had seen at a Pottery Barn store. It has a huge drawer that pulls out. I keep my large Memento ink pads, Baker's Twine, Stamp-a-ma-Jig, Scor-Tape, and a few other odds and ends inside. Everything is right where I need it. On the top of the desk is everything else that I use each time I sit down to work. My tray for neutral scraps, my Making Memories Carousel (filled with crafting necessities), and my OTT light are on the left of the desk. The blue polka-dotted bowl (from Target) houses all of my Die-namics, CutUps, and PTI dies. My Janome Sew Mini sits on the front part of the desk and I just pull the chair over from the computer desk when I need to sew something. The bucket (also from Target) filled with Copic Markers is within arms reach as well as my paper cutter. Then I do most of my work on my Scor-Mat. This cabinet (from the Bathroom section of Target) houses my rolls of ribbon (in the purple bin...a gift from my parents) and most of my stamps. You can see the Papertrey Ink sets on the top left. Then the pink cardboard bins (from Target...Yes, I LOVE that store...lol) are filled with all of my stamps from My Favorite Things, The Cat's Pajama's, Stampavie, and Penny Black. I have a few Lockhart stamps placed here and there on the shelf and then a few cards and projects set out for inspiration. These storage units (from Michaels) are just behind the desk and they house all of my patterned papers, my large colored ink pads, my ribbon scraps (large Mason jar), some more projects for inspiration, and my jars of Papertrey Ink buttons. The large cupcake cookie jar (a Christmas gift from my darling husband) holds all of my mini ink pads (Memento Dew Drops, Colorbox Cat's Eyes, etc.) The tin bucket (you guessed it...from Target) is filled with October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket paper pads. All of my other paper pads (mostly from My Mind's Eye) are on one of the top shelves. Here is a close up of this area. This is one of the baskets that I keep on the floor next to the desk. I use it for paper scraps. Each color family has a file folder and when I need a particular color, I start here. I have a few for patterned papers too. These are separated by company. The other basket has file folders with the individual colors written on them. These folders hold full and half sheets. So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed my crafty area! I LOVE having my own space to work in. I find that I am much more creative since I took over our guest bedroom...lol!  Thanks SO much for visiting with me today...Toodles! :D

Springtime Creations

Hello Friends! It's Kimberly here and I have two more Springtime cards to share with you today. These cards were made with the Blossom Soup set from Unity Stamp Company. This is the wonderful set that Lisa from Right at Home Scrapbooking store gave me to showcase this month. The first card uses this beautiful butterfly image from the set. It is colored up with Copic Markers (V12, V15, V17, and the Colorless Blender) and then I cut it out and popped it up. I used some Bazzill patterned paper (Grandma's Feather Bed) and card stock.  My other card uses this darling basket and sentiment that are also part of the Blossom Soup set. The basket is colored up with Copic Markers (BG000, BV02, BV04, E31, E35, R35, RV29, Y32, and Y35) and accented the flowers with some pearls. Again, I used some more Grandma's Feather Bed paper and some Bazzill card stock. I added a little bit of stitching to finish it off.

My Mom Cave (aka Scrap Room!)

You know that ad on tv for the "Mom cave"?  Well, I finally have mine.  When we first moved into this house seven years ago my husband declared that HE needed an office.  He works out of the home and already has an office but for whatever reason felt that the sky would fall if he did not have a place to pile his mountains of work junk.  Little ole me took a teeny tiny room upstairs for my work space and it wasn't long before I had outgrown it.  Meanwhile, I could probaly count on one hand how many times my husband had sat down at his desk to work... probably because he couldn't find it!

So you can imagine my surprise when out of the blue last Summer my husband declared that he was ready to give up his "office" so I could have a larger space and one that would enable me to watch the little guy while I worked.  Score! 

Here's what I ended up with:

From the left: an antique sewing table I got at a garage sale for $25 (with mini albums on top) and my treasured antique card catalog (with Cricut on top)



My wall art project: Ikea frame with the glass removed and vinyl letters/images cut with Sure Cuts a Lot and my Cricut



Antique card catalog that I randomly found on Craiglist for a steal! It weighs a ton!



The drawers have lots of things inside: Stickles, adhesives, brads, glitter, mists, paint, Cricut cartridges, etc. I still need to add the rest of the labels.



My corner armoire is from Home Goods. Owen's rocking horse just didn't have a home so he's in there too!



Inside the armoire is my paper, kits, some sewing stuff, cards/envelopes... and a lot more stuff since I took this photo!



The middle of the room



This shelf and the one under my desk are cheapies from Target. The cubes hold chipboard, books, metal embellishments, stickers, fabric embellishments, and buttons.



Bowls on top are from Melissa Frances and are filled with small paper bits like journaling books, tickets, paper ribbon, and tags.

The tall cabinet is a refinished piece we got for $10 at a garage sale and the other is from the As Is room at Ikea and houses my sewing machine (now a serger too), Thickers, and a file with current projects.



The tall cabinet contains my flowers, pins, Bind it All, catseye inks, punches, printer, and alterables.



Wall art was created from clearanced glassless frames from Michaels, cork sheets, and upholstery remnants. These cork boards hold recent layouts, lists, and whatever else I want to hang up.



The second Target shelf is under my desk to block the view. It holds ribbons, bling, epoxy/wood embellishments, my Slice, and rub-ons.



I sorted all my ribbons, cleared out the ones I didn't want anymore and carded all of them on chipboard.



So there you have it!! It took a lot of work but I absolutely LOVE it. I find that my productivity has gone WAY up since moving rooms and I want to spend a lot of time in here. Also, because it is in a central, visible area of the house I am forced to keep it somewhat clean.
