Blissful Days!!!

I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful March has been for me.  On March 8th, our adoption profile went live and we were matched on March 22nd with a baby boy, who's due Sunday. Needless to say, Adam and I are just in shock; after all, they told us it would take at least 3-6months...who would have guessed 14-days?  These simply have been blissful days...

As for scrapbooking, today I am here to share with you, Echo Park's SPRING TIME collection.  This was one of my most favorite lines this season, and is the same collection I created the spring banner class with. The colors are simply beautiful, all with a dusty shade of yellow, blue, pink, purple, and green. My layouts are girly-girl focused, but the line can easily be translated into boy pages as well. Here is a quick glance at the collection, all of which is available at Right At Home Scrapbooking!

 
 

Layout 1: Blissful Days

 

My first layout uses two sheets of papers (Delightful Stripe and Growing Vines), along with the coordinating Element Stickers.

 

 

Layout 2: Toy Story on Ice

 

My second layout uses Frances's March Sketch, along with two sheets of papers (Spring Border Strips and Colored Dots), and the coordinating Element and Alpha Sticker sheets.

 
 

Aside from a small piece of Bazzill, a tiny bit of string/lace, and my trusty foam tape, both of these layouts are made of 100% Echo Park's SPRING TIME collection. The next time you are Right At Home, be sure to check this collection out, you'll certainly be pleased!

You CAN Go Green!

Teehee... nothing like a pun to start off your day!  We've been going green all month long and today I am showing you my oatmeal CAN turned "junk" container!

You see, I have a little problem: I see alterables *everywhere*.  I have a huge collection of old jars, boxes, and containers so when I was asked to go green this month it was easy to find a Quaker oats container like this one in my stash and repurpose it into something neat. 

All little guys need a place to keep their "things"...their "stuff"... their "junk", if you will. My Owen is a wee bit young to be squirreling away his special toys but this will look cute on his shelf until he is ready for it.  And naturally I used Fancy Pants' To The Moon (with all its BOYness!) to cover the outside of the can and give it some cool details.

The 12 x 12 papers didn't quite make it all the way around so I used a strip of paper to cover the gap.  I didn't want to have too much hanging off the can because, well, let's face it... little boys are rough on their stuff!  But that didn't stop me from adding a couple of chipboard stars and that sweet monster!

I used a circle cutter to fit paper into the top of the lid and popped the BOOM chipboard with foam tape.  I'm thinking it is a warning for whenever that top is opened... you'd better be careful because you have no idea what could be in there!  ("rescued" bugs, anyone!?)

I had fun making this out of something around the house.  It can be like a treasure hunt to find alterables in your kitchen cabinets... and I promise not to tell a soul if you end up emptying a full canister of oats into a zip top bag so you can cover it in scrap paper! ;-)

A Little Stella and Rose

Hi Everyone,

It feels like forever since my last post!!  Well, I'm feeling the pressure to make it a good one, so here goes! Lisa created a great package of goodies for me this month including some WONDERFUL papers and goodies from My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose Collection. (of course, I'm sure that all of the very subtle hinting I did had nothing to do with it!!) This collection is right up my alley.  It's full of greens, blues and browns and the patterns beg to be distressed!  The whole line reminded me of Hydrangeas, which happen to be one of my favorite flowers!!  Luckily I had the perfect pictures to go with it!

 
My first layout, Beach Girls is a picture of my daughter and her Cape Cod friends.  We've known these girls since before they were born, and we make sure to take at least one group shot every year!  I LOVE the scripted background paper, it was one of my favorites in the line!

 
I created some scalloped layered flowers... they reminded me of the hydrangeas in the background and my title was made from something I "re-purposed"... can you guess what it is??

My second layout has pictures of the day we took my indoor kitty Rosie for her first outside adventure. (My husband is convinced I will become the crazy cat lady one day...)

She loved being outside, especially the flowers!  For this layout I created some more flowers using the new MFT Die-namic Upsy Daisy and added some buttons from the Stella and Rose line. 

  
The butterflies, title and tickets are also made from my re-purposed item... have you guessed yet?

 
It's a coffee sleeve!!!  I wish I could take credit for the idea, but it's all Sharon!  We were discussing the challenge a few weeks ago, and she gave me this inspiration!

Going Green!

Hello Everyone!  It's Kimberly here and so is Spring! I have a little project to share with you today to welcome the new season. Lisa gave me these biodegradable planting pots to play with this month and this is what I came up with. All of the blossoms were made with the My Favorite Things Die-namics Rolled Rose Die. The best part is that each one was made with scraps of white felt that I already had on hand. I'm so glad that I saved them because they worked perfectly for this recycling project. After all of the roses were made, I attached them to a Styro Foam with corsage pins. Here is a close up of the top.

For the leaves, I simply snipped some from some of this beautiful May Arts ribbon. I attached a few pearls to the ribbon that went around the flower pot to tie the whole thing together. Here's a close up of the side for you too.

Gettin' Sassy !!

Hey There, Lynn here to share a few projects I recently created. When Lisa asked if I'd like to use some Sassafras Lass papers it took me a half a second to respond YES !! I have always loved their products and the two collections I used are no exception !! For my first layout I used the new "Sweetly Smitten" line ! The papers are perfect for spring projects and I'm a sucker for those scalloped edges !! I went a bit shabby chic for this layout with lots and lots of distressing ...

For the title I painted some white Fancy Pants chipboard alpha (new and available at Right at Home) with Jenni Bowlin "Lemon Drops" paint dabber. Once the alpha was dry I added some Crackle Accents to give the letters some fun detail. I also used some liquid pearls to create journaling lines and to add some accents to the page ...

 
 
The banner was created from the cardstock stickers that coordinate with this collection - I used foam tape behind each banner for added dimension ...

For my second layout I used the "Indie Girl" collection. I used a more clean and simple design for this layout which highlights this great photo taken by Heather Chick  of her adorable little ones !! 

I love banners so the cardstock stickers with this collection were right up my creative alley. I used several banners and tucked some of them under and behind the photo ... 

 
I kept the title simple and used glossy accents - which doesn't show up well in the photo but it does add to the plain, white alpha ...

This was a super easy card sketch to use, and I always LOVE it when I can use a bunch of patterned paper on a card.  Everyone used suppies that they already had on hand...no St. Patrick's Day paper here!  We all just kind of made it our own, and worked it out with scraps from multiple lines...all of which can be found at Right at Home.

Spring Birdhouse Giftbox.. AND a giveaway!

Tamara here! I've got a beautiful Cricut project for you all today! I had SO much fun with this one! I used Echo Park's 'For the Record' collection (Found at the fabulous, Right at Home Scrapbooking!) and it really gave this birdhouse the 'feel' I was going for! DESIGN - SVG Cuts offers video tutorials on how to put the birdhouse together. Then, cut all your elements and decor. Once everything is cut out, start to adhere them to your birdhouse giftbox.

TIPS - Use a nail file or sandpaper to distress! Wrinkle up your paper, it adds a nice texture and creates a 'worn' look. Ink your edges a bit.. I love adding ink to projects to help certain elements stand out! Most of all, have FUN with it!

Campy Trails to You!

Good morning ladies!  I had the pleasure of working with a few of the new CHA Winter Collections, and Campy Trails by American Crafts has to be my favorite!  Now I must say that since I have 4 kiddos under the age of 9, camping has not been high on the priority list of things to do, but we are always playing outside!  This collection is so versatile that ANY "outside" pics you have would work...gotta love that!!  Take a look...

Through the Woods

This was quite an easy layout.  I used a recent sketch from Inspired Blueprints, which always helps when you are trying to crank out some layouts.  I love how the circles on this layout anchor the embellishments and title! 

A Bit Squirrelly

Sure hope these pictures don't gross you out!  I live in the deep south, and hunting is in our blood.  We hunt just about everything...yes, we do.  And aside from the fact that my daughter is holding a squirrel by the tail, cute layout isn't it?  LOL!!  This is a grid layout (LOVE these) consisiting of 2 pictures and my favorite pieces of patterned paper.  How about those flowers?  Yep, made those myself!  As I mentioned in a previous post, we are going green here at Right at Home, and this is a way to repurpose RIBBON!!  I just took this regular jute ribbon and pulled one of the strings to make it gather, attached the 2 ends with glue dots, and there you have a sweet flower!!

To the Moon!

There is no doubt that the latest CHA show was a good one for BOY stuff!  To the Moon by Fancy Pants Designs is a super fun new line that you're going to want for the little guy in your life.  It's loaded with bright colors and all the icons of boyhood: aliens, robots, monsters, and other things that beep and whirr.  To the Moon has all the energy of your favorite small guy! 

It's a Guy Thing

I totally fell in love with the 80's-esque star rainbow on this patterned paper!  It captures all the facets of my son's huge personality!  The photo strips on this layout were from a mall photo booth and they were terrible quality but the joy on my son's and husband's faces makes me smile every time I see them.  They had snuck off and were just doing their own special guy thing.  This page is covered in stars but the focus stays on the photos tucked into the large star element.

It's amazing what you can do with busier patterns when you focus on the parts you love and highlight them like I did here. 

Robot Love

I used the March Sketch for inspiration for this next layout, Robot Love. 

You can see that I flipped the sketch to better accomodate the cute robot printed on the large circle paper.  I also chose to use one of the photos on the sketch as a journaling spot instead.  I love the ease of sketches and making them my own!

Fancy Pants is great about giving us paper that is more subdued and solid in combination with patterns that pop off the page.  I used several of the busier patterns for the circle elements but grounded them with the blue paper for the background.  I bordered the page with lots of stitching and echoed it with threads wound around some of the chipboard cogs. 

I'm so glad that Fancy Pants knows that boys need scrapbooking love too!  This is a terrifc line for all your guy scrapping needs and of course you can get To the Moon for yourself at Right at Home.
