Hi everyone... I'm back with more from Crate Paper's Restoration! This line was too good to only feature for one day!
This first layout uses the green, blue, and yellow from this line. There are so many colors in Restoration that you can easily create layouts in several different color palettes. I happen to love this color combination and it went well with the splashes of bright yellow in my photos of my little guy.
I used Glimmer Mist and a mask on the kraft cardstock for two reasons. One, because I simply like using kraft for a neutral background! Two, because if I don't like how the misting turns out I can grab another peice of cardstock without ruining my patterned paper. There is NO reason to fear the mist! Glimmer Mist is really fun to use and can be sprayed on everything from chipboard to paper to flowers and more. I used a plastic "mask" designed for mists on this layout but you can also use doilies, found objects, alphas, or anything else to create a reverse image on your page.
And see those larger splotches? Some people will tell you those are undesirable. You can hold the bottle differently and get a more uniform look but I actually prefer the size variety. I think it looks more interesting for most of my boy pages but the softness of the smaller mist spray also looks beautiful on more delicate or romantic layouts. It's all a matter of what you like!
This next page, Wild Card, uses an entirely different color scheme. I though the card pattern was a cool design and wanted to do something with the cut cards. Well, my son is a total wild card when it comes to his personality... one moment he can be yelling in protest and ten seconds later he is smiling sweetly. Boys!!
I actually Glimmer Misted the twill ribbon on this page as well. It started off cream and I used green and a bit of brown to color it to match the papers. Glimmer Mist is super great to have on hand to recolor your embellishments. Ribbons, alpha stickers, wood, chipboard, canvas and flowers all take mist like a dream!
Restoration has been a blast to work with. Be sure to run to Right At Home for yours before I get there first and buy it all myself!!
