Just One More!

Hi Everyone... happy end of January!  It's been such a snowy month around here, I'm beginning to feel like I live in Alaska!!  So far we've had 64" this year with another 10" - 14"(possibly 20???) on the way this week!!  The only good thing about all this snow (and I do mean the ONLY GOOD THING...) is that I don't feel too guilty staying in to scrap.  I was able to create one more 2-pager from the My Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas Delight goodies Lisa gave me this month.

For this layout, I used a sketch from Scrapbook Generations Sketches for Scrapbooking vol. 6.  These books are chock full of sketches for 2-page layouts.  They are so easy to use, and give you all of the dimensions for the pictures and papers.. so you can spend your time making the page your own instead of trying to figure where to put everything!

 
Yes.. it's another layout featuring my crazy kitties!!  Fortunately they don't mind having their picture taken, unlike my 12 year old!!  I believe that they love Christmas more than the humans of the house.  It's full of boxes, wrapping, bows and even a few "real" presents for them.

My layout follows the sketch exactly, but then I added the fun banner title using My Favorite Things banner Die-namic and the perfect cardstock stickers from MLYB!!

A FULL Double and a CHA peek!

Well hello!  I am still trying to get my Christmas pictures scrapped...you?  I always seem to run into the same trouble every year...I have TOO MANY PICTURES TO PUT ON A SINGLE PAGE LAYOUT!!!  If I had to choose a favorite though, I would certainly say that I prefer a single.  But with holidays like Christmas, I really need to get as many pics as I can on a layout.  You know as well as I, that it can't really happen with a single.  So here is a look at my double where I fit 12 pictures on it...no kidding!!

Basically, to create this layout I just cropped all of my pictures first, and then created a grid with them.  I left a few spaces free for patterned paper and embellishments, but I really wanted to showcase my photos.  Did I mention 12 photos?  Yep, count them...12 photos!! I am super happy to be completely done with this event...in to the album it goes. 

Speaking of done, I am officially happy to be done with Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather...Whoot! Whoot!!  Now I will have plenty of room for ALL of Cosmo Cricket's CHA Winter Collections.  Here is one of my favorites...who am I kidding, I really like them all, but here is just one!!

 









Holy Schmoly!!!  What a fun collection, right?  Well, Cosmo Cricket has 2 additional collections that they are debuting, some pretty awesome chipboard letters, and some neat things to help out in the embellishment area.  You can check it all out HERE.

Documenting 2011!

For the past few years, I have created a calendar for my kitchen that can later be placed into my scrapbooks.  I love the idea that years from now, I can look back and see what filled our days.

This year, while doing some shopping at Right At Home, I noticed Basic Grey had this cool calendar kit out.  At first glance, you might not notice that once the year is over, you can cut the white border on the top (used to hang it) and the middle (for the spiral) to make perfect, 8x8 pages.

The fun part about this, is that the kit comes with die cuts, chipboard, letter stickers, rub ons, and color, step-by-step directions, so you can wing it or follow right along!  I opted to make the same layouts, but added some dimension with foam tape, and a ton of little pearls & bling here-and-there.

 
 
 
 
 

The entire 12-month calendar was created in less than one day, and is a beautiful art piece hanging in my kitchen.  Personally, I opted to fill it with pictures from 2010, but you could leave the photo mats blank and fill it as the year occurs (giving you a leg up on creating 12-pages).

Lickity-Split!

Hey there ladies!  Are you inspired yet?  Between the design team and our super fab guest designer...WOW!!  Lots of inspiration, right?  Well, it's January, and I am sure you are trying to get through your Christmas pictures.  Today, I am here to share a super easy, quick layout...an hour and a half quick layout to be exact!  For me that is really good because I can sometimes spend 5-6 hours on a layout.  Here is a look...

Pooped Out

There is really very minimal paper and embellishments on this layout.  One way I gave this simple layout a kick, is by backing my background paper with patterned paper.  It gives it color and texture in a really easy way.  Another way to add a bit of interest to your layout when you are short on time, is to mix handmade embellies with pre-made embellies.  My pre-made embellishments are the Basic Grey Jovial chipboard and cardstock stickers.  My hand made element is the tree.  This tree was super easy and quick to create!!  All I did was punch coordinating paper using a border punch, arranged the strips on a piece of cardstock, and cut the cardstock in the shape of a triangle!  I added a few chipboard elements for ornaments and a bit of bling...DONE!!

It is also fun to add 1 or 2 details, like the threaded button.  Threading buttons can be tedious, but just 1 or 2 is no problem.

Happy New Year!

I know it's a bit late in the month to be sending New Year's wishes, but it feels like forever since I've posted!  The holidays get so crazy!!  I hope everyone enjoyed the season!

It felt good to get back into the "creating for creating's sake" groove.  Lisa sent me some great papers and stickers from My Little  Yellow Bicycle's Christmas Delight line which were perfect for the tons of pictures I took over the Christmas season! 

My first layout is based on Frances' January sketch. It's a picture of one of my crazy kitties Daisy, hiding under the tree.  I'm convinced my cats both thought the tree and the presents were there solely for them to play with!

 
I hand stitched the Christmas tree and the ornaments were made using My Favorite Things new Die-namic the quarter inch Rosette.   This is a fantastic tool!  I posted a tutorial last year on how to make fan fold flowers by scoring paper.  This Die-namic does it all for you!  Check out Joanne Basile's tutorial (here)  which shows just how easy it is to make these fun flower embellishments!

 

My second layout also uses the great papers from My Little  Yellow Bicycle's Christmas Delight line and some more new Die-namics.  Every year on the last day of school before Christmas break, my daughter and her friends get together to celebrate and exchange gifts.  It's gotten bigger over the years.. they have so much fun!

 
I pulled out the sewing machine again to stitch the border and the "quilted" blocks.  I used three of the newest Die-namics, the Dainty Doily, the Dainty Doily border and one of the Layered Label dies.

  
 

 

For the title, I painted chipboard letters with Jenni Bowlin for Ranger's paint dabber in Chili Pepper to make the letters match my layout perfectly!

January Sketch

Hi everyone!  Lynn Ghahary here and I am thrilled to be joining you this month as a guest designer for Right At Home Scrapbooking.  Today I want to share with you my take on January's sketch.  I am a big fan of using sketches when I scrapbook.  They are the perfect tool to jumpstart my process and get those creative juices flowing. 

Here is a look at the January sketch and my take on it ...

For this layout I used lots of bright and colorful papers from the Snow Day collection by Crate Paper - love love love the whimsical design of these papers!  These pictures of my oldest Darian were perfect for this sketch and this adorable collection. 

I also used two different colors of Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels to create a fun ombre effect on my layout.  To create this effect I simply took a sheet of white cardstock and painted with the Glimmer Glam graduating my color from blue to purple.  I then took my base patterned paper (Flakes from Crate Paper) and cut circles to mimic the circle elements on the sketch.  When I laid my patterend paper over my cardstock the painted Glimmer Glam peeked through my cut circles.  There are so many fun things you can do with Glimmer Glam from using it to paint directly on paper as I did here to altering chipboard and other elements.  The possibilities are endless!

I finished off my layout by embellishing each circle with lots of stickers, brads, and of course some punched snowflakes.  I hope you enjoyed my take on January's sketch.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
