Simply Spectacular!

Where the heck did this month go?  Its been such a crazy, busy, few weeks that I feel like I just blinked and 30-days have past on by. 

When things get hectic, one of the best ways to squeeze in a few scrapbook layouts is to just simplify your approach.  This month, I did just that—using the left over scraps from last months project, which used Basic Grey's Green at Heart collection and saved me from having to put them away, plus Frances September sketch, I created this "SPECT"acular layout from our recent vacation to Kennebunkport, Maine.

I can honestly say, by using Frances sketch, this project was done in just a few hours. It did however sit on my husbands desk for several weeks waiting for his journaling—but I try and get his handwriting/view-point on my layouts every now and again and that's one sacrifice I have to tolerate. ;)

Hello Fall!!

Thank goodness I did that farewell post to summertime last week because it was a whopping 58 degrees here this morning in Many, Louisiana.  And ok, ok...it was kinda nice, except for the fact that flip-flops are not going to be a choice of shoes for the day anymore.  Flip-flops are a staple in the South, and one of the best things about summer, right?  Anyhoo, I have a couple of Fall layouts to share with you today, and I am in love with the way they turned out.  Lisa actually sent me Basic Grey's Max & Whiskers to create a few Fall layouts.  Yep, you heard me, Max & Whiskers!!  Take a look...

Thankful

 
Looks like Fall to me!!  I just used some of the elements that did not have cute adorable animal prints and faces on them.  The paper has some of Fall's signature colors...brown, gold, orange, green...yep, that's Fall!! 

 
How about those sweet leaves?  I created these babies from a sheet of Creative Imagination's sticky backed canvas.  I just found a piece of chipboard in the shape of a leaf, traced it on the back of the canvas, and cut it out...easy!!  And to give them those wonderful rich colors, I used Creative Imagination's Twinkling H20's.  I don't know if you can tell, but they shimmer...gotta love that!! 

 
See what I am sayin' about not so animal-ish...those cardstock flowers are from the 12 X 12 cardstock stickers!!  And of course, more lovely leaves. 

Headed to the Doghouse

 
Ok, I couldn't resist...I just had to use the doggy theme on just one layout!  I was really trying to do 2 layouts with an exclusive Fall theme, but those puppies!!! 

To create that sweet bone I used, yet again, Creative Imaginations Corrugated Paper...love it!!  I just freehanded the bone, cut it out, and backed it with a bit of brown carkstock...surprise, surprise!  As a matter of fact, I backed everything with brown cardstock.  I really do love that effect!

Farewell Sweet Summertime!!

I promise that after this post I will not do another post about Echo Park's Sweet Summertime...well, maybe.  I really do love this collection...it just makes me smile!  Here is one last layout that I created with a few pics that also make me smile!!  Take a look...

See what I mean? Isn't that just the happiest collection ever? So bright and fun...I just love it!   

And pinwheels make everyone smile, don't ya think?  So I added a few, complete with an Sweet Summertime Cardstock sticker and a clear button...I love it when I get those in my monthly goodies from Lisa! 
 
Like always, I backed the cardstock stickers with a coordinating cardstock.  It was just enough to make them POP right off of the layout!!  It really was a super simple layout to create...I just let Sweet Summertime do all the work!

Summer...Please Don't Go!

Well hello there!  Sure hope you had a fabulous weekend.  Did you make your way into the store?  Well, from what I heard, Lisa has done some sprucing up and tons of new CHA goodies are there!!  So, now is the time to go...go on...go!!  Even though I am 1664.17 miles away, yeah I Googled it...LOL, I am managing to get a bit of scrappy shopping in.  And to let you in on my fun, I will keep you updated on the loot that hits my door step!  Anyhoo, Halloween, Fall, and Christmas are all the rage right now in scrappy supplies, but I am not quite ready to let go of summer.  So, I created a sweet, little, summery card and sketch to hold on to the 90 degree weather we are still having in Louisiana...LOL!  Take a look...

Ahhhh...sweet summer!  Don't ya think that Echo Park Sweet Summertime is just what summer is about?  Bright colors, fun shapes, bold patterns...I love this line!!  Everything you see with the exception of the cardstock, twill, and yellow Dear Lizzy Thickers is from the Sweet Summertime Collection.  And FYI...the cardstock, twill, and Dear Lizzy came from Right at Home too!!  I just backed the cardstock stickers to make them POP!...love that! 

Ok, I am not feeling done quite yet with the Echo Park.  I may have to sneak another Sweet Summertime layout in amongst my Fall DT layouts for September.  Hmmmmm...stay tuned!!

It's That Time of Year

   Yes, it is that time, the time when the dreaded "schedule" kicks in.  The time to worry about homework, tests, after school activities, etc.  These days I feel like I'm more of a taxi service than anything else!  It's also the time of year I actually can get some scrapping completed while school is in session!  I took some time this week to scrap my daughter's first day of school (from last year of course, I'm not that up to date!) using We R Memory Keeper's Show & Tell line.  This line is full of fun colors and patterns that work well with all grade levels.  The papers have great names line Straight A, Recess and Homework. 

Since I had so may pictures, I decided to make this a two-pager.  I kept it pretty simple to allow the pictures to be the focal point.  The kids in my neighborhood are really tolerant of my stalking them on the way to school...

 

To add a little pizazz, I pleated some ribbon and stapled it with my new favorite tool the Tiny Attacher from Tim Holtz.  I completed the look with a button and I also doodled around the edges to dress it up a bit.
