When it comes time to scrapbook a big event in your life, you could fill pages and pages of albums with all the details: the planning, the people, emotions, facts, etc. For some, this may be days, weeks, or even months of post event fun; but for others, it could become too overwhelming and cumbersome. The fear of "where to start" could push an enjoyable task of scrapbooking it, off for quite some time. I know this all to well.
Typically when I go on a big vacation with my husband, its the next thing I want to scrapbook. I find it so much fun and enjoyable to look through the hundreds of photographs and choose the right ones to 'capture the moment'. However, when it came time to scrapbook our wedding, I was just in shock with all the "things" I had collected over our engagement (business cards, flyer's, fabric samples, etc.) from all the different vendors we interviewed and hired. Never mind the thousands of photographs taken of the day itself.
This was such an important milestone in my life, and I wanted to capture what truly mattered. Over the past few months, I've taken some time to create a list of all the things I felt would be valuable for our family to sit back and flip through; one of which was to scrapbook the reason why I had chosen each of my bridesmaids to be in our wedding party. It's this very topic that I am here to share with you.
{thanks} Mini Album
For this mini album, I used the Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage line. Each of the square 12x12 papers in this collection are double sided and have the best 'cottage theme' names: Front Porch, Flower Garden, Gazebo, Trellis, Picket Fence and Flower Porch Swing! (For those who frequent this blog, you may recall, I posted last week that I felt this line was created just for me. How lucky am I?)

For the base of my album, I used one of the Right At Home AccuCut postage stamp shaped dies and cut three pieces of chipboard and four pieces of transparency. I covered each piece of chipboard with a 6.5" square of black Bazzill cardstock, and then sprayed an entire bottle of Vanilla Smooch Spritz along all the edges. I thought this would give me a good base to start my pages and love all the shimmer!

On a side note, I'm not sure you knew this, but RAH has a huge collection of large and small size AccuCut dies that you can use with any paper/chipboard purchase you make. The next time you are in the store, you should really take a moment and check them out!

For my front cover, I layered two shades of Pink Paislee ambrose letter stickers (Bayberry and Licorice) on a transparency, and then added pink Stickles to the word 'thanks'. Then, I adhered the paper and photo to the top chipboard.

For the first 2-page spread, you see a decorated piece of chipboard on the left, which includes a black & white photo of me and one of my bridesmaids (or in this case, my Maid of Honor). Then, on the right, you see a clear transparency, which I turned into a pocket page. I continue with this alternating chipboard/transparency layout scheme for the remainder of the mini book. Each pocket page includes one green journaling tag that states why I was thankful to have them in my wedding party.
I really liked the Bayberry Cottage Borderline 1x12 stickers, however, I felt the background paper was too bold to notice all the intricate details. So, I adhered them to white paper and cut the design out, prior to gluing it to my page. I then added a few green and blue crystals and pearls to the strip and randomly doodled with blue Smooch ink.

For each of the named pocket pages, I added one Bayberry Cottage Weathered Wood Alpha sticker, which I covered with Glossy Accents and a few pink Stickles along the far left edge. Then, I spelled out the remainder of their name in layered alpha stickers and added pink stickles to the top layer.

I colored in every other polka dot in with blue Smooch ink, and randomly doodled with it on the right. In addition, I decorated with green and blue pearls and Pink Paislee Bella Brads.

I just love when patterned paper has a design that you can cut out in a variety of ways. Typically, for this black Flower Garden paper, I would have focused on hand cutting the flower shape. However, I really enjoyed the leaf shape, so I just cut off the flower head. I just love that one piece of paper can be looked at in many ways! Once I was done hand cutting, I added some blue pearls and crystals, and randomly doodled in blue Smooch ink and Glossy Accents (look closely at the white leaves).

For my last 2-page spread, I added green pearls to the center of each of the flowers on the right page, hand cut out the wavy pattern and elevated it over another pattern area. In addition, I cut out the green center of some of the flowers and added them to this wavy pattern. They later got covered with Glossy Accents for some additional dimension.

(Can you see all the fun vanilla Smooch spritz? I just love it!)
Back Cover: Happiness
I ended my mini album just as I began, with a colored image of the five of us. This picture is a great example of capturing a moment for exactly as it was, pure happiness.
As the years come and go, I am sure my relationships with each of these girls will change, but for our children-to-be, I have been able to capture why each of them meant so much to me. And to me, this is what scrapbooking is all about!
